In Person Only – NOT recorded
A compelling protagonist – that’s what editors often say they are looking for in a novel. Readers need to care what happened to that character before the book opens and what’s going to happen to that character after the book ends. The journey should be transformational so that by the end the protagonist has changed in some fundamental way.
In this intensive workshop, you’ll work on fleshing out a vivid main character and developing a character arc. You’ll work on revealing that character to the reader in layers and using a range of tools—back story, voice and viewpoint, description, dialogue and internal dialogue, and setting.
Participants should have developed an idea for a novel along with at least a rough outline or synopsis and ideas about the protagonist.
