Sean Cranbury

Writer

Sean Cranbury is a writer, community builder, podcast producer, public speaker, and event organizer who lives and works on the unceded and ancestral lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations.

Sean is the founder of the radio show and podcast Books on the Radio and the quarterly literary reading event Real Vancouver Writers’ Series. Sean has produced many other writing-related projects that seek to blend digital + analog technologies with writing and publishing. He brings a very collaborative approach to creating projects which includes an allowance for social media and other web tools to build communities online and in real life.

He also ran the legendary Storm Crow Tavern and Storm Crow Alehouse for many years. His nerd cred includes an almost encyclopedic knowledge of useless pop culture trivia and a stack of threadbare original AD&D 2nd edition manuals that he frequently consults.

Sean runs the Unconference portion of SiWC – a decentralized, peer-to-peer discussion group that explores all aspects of the writing and publishing process and often features cameos from other SiWC speakers and presenters.

Sean is the Executive Director of the BC Book Prizes which his doctor recently referred to as ‘so like the Oscars but for books.” Yes, just like that.
